CHICAGO — A 38-year-old man has been charged with murder in the death of a woman on New Year’s Day.
Reginald Freeman, 38, of Chicago, faces one felony count of first-degree murder.
According to police, a 43-year-old woman was fatally shot around 3 a.m. Wednesday on the 1200 block of South Sawyer Avenue in the North Lawndale neighborhood.
The identity of the woman, and the details surrounding the shooting, have not yet been released.

Freeman was arrested by police, just minutes after the shooting occurred, on the 3200 block of West Roosevelt Road.
He is scheduled to attend a detention hearing Friday.
