BOSTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Senator Adam Gomez (D, Springfield) was sworn into office representing the Hampden district in the Massachusetts State Senate on Wednesday, making this his third term since he was first elected in 2020.
Gomez took the oath of office at the Massachusetts State House in Boston in the presence of family members, colleagues, and supporters. He said that his commitment to his position is strengthened by the accomplishments made by the 193rd General Court.

Notable achievements from the court include the creation of the MassEducate program that covers tuition and fees for eligible students and provides coverage for books and supplies for low and middle income students. The court also invested $4 billion in industries that create jobs in Hampden County, and sent funding specifically to statewide infrastructure like rural communities and libraries.
“Despite a tumultuous political landscape at a national level, I enter my third term as State
Senator for the Hampden district with the utmost confidence the 194th General Court will
ensure the state of Massachusetts continues the people’s work,” Gomez said. “I’m honored to take the oath of office and once again entrust Senate President Karen E. Spilka as the leader of our legislative body. I am profoundly grateful for the overwhelming support and vote of confidence from the residents of the Hampden district to continue serving as their State Senator.”
