ALBION, Ind. (WANE) — After 45 years of business Albion Village Foods is closing its doors leaving the town of Albion without a grocery store.
In a Facebook post on December 31 , the store initially announced that all remaining inventory would be 25% off and the store would remain open until inventory was gone. Another post on Saturday the store posted that all remaining items would be 50% off while supplies last.
The Saturdays post Albion Village Food also thanked all for shopping with them for the last 45 years.
Owner Jim Zumbrun and co-owner Richard Baughman opened the grocery store doors in 1979 later passing the store on to sons Jeff and Brian Zumbrun.
The exact details as to why the grocery store is closing are unknown. The grocery store notified the public and its workers on Dec. 30 that they would be shutting down.
Steven Troves, who has worked in the Deli department at Albion Village Foods said he was not sure what he was going to do next, as the store was all he’s known.
