The Community Blood Bank is mobilizing efforts to ease the strain on the local blood supply following the severe winter weather.
A representative of the blood bank said the cancellation of several blood drives has resulted in a shortage and that there is an urgent need for donors.
The severe weather has made an impact for many this winter including one local non-profit that serves many throughout the region.
The community blood bank has canceled over 16 mobile drives since Thanksgiving as a result of the recurring storms.

“Our bloodmobiles struggle sometimes in the snow and for the safety of everybody we had to cancel in those situations we try to find different places to go and Grace Church graciously let us stay here through the day,” said Megan Solensky, community relations specialist, Community Blood Bank.
Solensky said the quick turnaround for the emergency response requires all hands on deck and that the community has done its part in showing up.
