Maryland Weather: Winter Storm Warning issued for Maryland

Severe winter weather begins Saturday night with temperatures in the teens and wind chills 03:46

BALTIMORE — We have a break in the wintry weather Sunday with increasing clouds through the day and afternoon highs in the low 30s. We’ll still have a slight breeziness to the day to close out the weekend.

Overall, the day looks dry and cold on Sunday. It’s not until late this evening into the overnight that we see wintry conditions return to Maryland.

Late Sunday storm expected to bring snow

Light snow will begin falling about 10:00pm Sunday night in the Baltimore metro area.

A winter storm warning has been issued for all of Maryland with widespread snowfall of 4-8 inches, some locally higher totals of 10-12 inches are possible in the state. This will depend on where heavier bands of snowfall set up and move through.

Snow begins late on Sunday night, continuing to and past daybreak Monday. By Monday’s morning rush hour, we could have anywhere from 2-4″ on the ground.

After a brief break in snowfall around midday, the storm will reorganize, and heavier convective bands could bring another couple inches of snow to the area. The wintry precipitation is expected to end late Monday/early Tuesday.
