PORTAGE, Wis. — A 62-year-old Friendship man was arrested after he allegedly took deputies on a vehicle pursuit in Columbia County Saturday night.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office at 5:55 p.m. responded to a report of an alleged intoxicated, armed man from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
Police said just after 6:30 p.m. a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Deputy located the vehicle traveling westbound on I90-94. A deputy attempted to stop the vehicle and the man reportedly failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.
As the pursuit continued westbound on I90-94, a deputy was able to utilize a tire deflation device on the man’s truck. The truck continued on traveling onto northbound I-39 before entering a ditch and coming to a stop.
As deputies stopped the man, he allegedly shot at deputies. The Sheriff’s Office said three deputies returned fire at the man.
No injuries were reported.
The man was taken into custody and a gun reportedly used by the man was recovered at the scene.
