(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A truck driver from Oak Lawn is accused of making a bomb threat and shutting down a South Carolina interstate for hours.
South Carolina State Police say an officer pulled over a tractor-trailer for a missing license plate on the trailer on Jan. 2 on Interstate 85 in Greenville County located in western South Carolina.
Ahmad Jamal Khamees Alhendi, 28, of Oak Lawn was driving the truck. State Police say Alhendi indicated that there was an explosive device inside the truck.
Police then shut down all lanes of I-85 while the threat was being investigated. The FBI was called to investigate.
The truck was then cleared and the interstate was reopened after about five hours.
Alhendi has been charged with: breach of peace of high and aggravated nature, conveying false information about a bomb threat, and operating/permitting an unregistered vehicle.
