A 48 FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY is in effect later this evening due to the threat of strong gusty winds and heavy rainfall. Periods of rain and thunder will be possible before the main line of storms arrive, but this activity will not be strong nor severe. A Wind Advisory has been issued for all counties in the Tennessee Valley through Monday for sustained wind speeds at 20 and 25 miles per hour and gusts as high as 35 miles per hour. Winds will continue to increase after sunset and gusts could exceed 45 and 50 miles per hour, which would lead to isolated power outages and minor tree damage. The overall severe threat should stay to our southwest, but I still recommend having a safety plan in place. Rainfall should be coming to an end around midnight and winds will slightly weaken but remain gusty overnight.
