Today, we reflect with bittersweet hearts on the passing of President Jimmy Carter, a man whose life embodied service, humility, and unwavering faith. While we grieve the loss of this extraordinary leader, we also celebrate his final “home-going” and the immeasurable legacy he leaves behind.

President Carter’s tireless advocacy and hands-on involvement with Habitat for Humanity over the past four decades elevated our mission to global recognition. Alongside his beloved wife, Rosalynn, he worked side by side with homeowners, volunteers, and countless others to bring the dream of homeownership to life for families in need. Together, they demonstrated what it truly means to lead with compassion, humility, and purpose.

There is no doubt that Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter have had a profound impact on Habitat for Humanity and the world at large. Though the Carters never visited Collier County, their recognition of our flagship affiliate was deeply felt — most notably when Habitat Collier was invited to join the Carter Work Project in Léogâne, Haiti, following the devastating 2010 earthquake.
