Power has been restored to a central portion of Fayetteville, where an outage, affecting customers of the Fayetteville Public Works Commission, had impacted thousands of customers and knocked out some traffic signals.
The Fayetteville Police Department reported that all signals were operating normally in a news release just after 1 p.m. Sunday. Police officers had been directing traffic at several intersections around the city due to the outage.
The Police Department in an earlier news release urged drivers to use caution and remain vigilant if they encountered a four-way intersection where the signals were not working.
The department provided these tips:
First come, first served : The first vehicle to arrive at the intersection has the right of way.
– Right of way to the right : If two or more vehicles arrive at the same time, the vehicle on the right has the right of way.
– Straight traffic takes precedence : When two vehicles are facing each other, the vehicle going straight has the right of way.
