Finnegans Brew Co., the downtown Minneapolis brewery that shuttered its doors this past summer, is being sued for an alleged $460,000 in unpaid rent to its former landlord.
According to a lawsuit filed by Kraus-Anderson in Hennepin County last week, Finnegans owes a total of $461,049 since 2021, including attorney fees and interest.
The three-story building it used to operate out of at 817 Fifth Avenue S. in the Elliot Park neighborhood had 17,520 square feet reserved for the brewery, with the rest of it a mixed-use development, per the lease agreement.

The lawsuit states that Kraus-Anderson would provide the space to other tenants after Finnegans continued to miss rent payments. The brewery was responsible for covering dues until a new tenant signed a lease at the property.
The brewery first opened its doors in 2018.
The former space occupied by Finnegans is now being leased to Mosaic Venue, according to court documents. Mosaic has operated on the third floor of the space since 2022 and is expanding to the lower levels of the building.
