Several cold weather shelters to open in Hillsborough County

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA)— Cold weather shelters are to open this week as temperatures are expected to drop below 40 degrees.

The Hillsborough County’s cold weather shelters program announced four shelters will open Monday night through Thursday night, Jan. 9.

TIMELINE: Coldest air of the season moves into the Tampa Bay area

The shelters will accommodate the homeless and those who live in homes without adequate heat and cannot find other accommodations, Hillsborough County said.

Partnering with other organizations, Hillsborough County will provide limited-capacity shelters to adults at the following locations:

  • Church of God of Prophecy Hyde Park
    • 107 S. Oregon Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606
  • Hyde Park United Methodist Church
    • 500 W. Platt Street, Tampa, FL 33606
  • Tampa Bay Mission of Hope
    • 212 S. St. Cloud Avenue, Building A, Valrico, FL 33594
  • Amazing Love Ministries
    • 3304 E. Columbus Drive, Tampa, FL 33605

The four shelters will begin taking guests from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. or until they reach capacity.
