Special needs students, parents claim bus aide assaulted them

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The parents of two special needs students expressed their anger after claiming both children were assaulted by a bus aide in Charlotte.

6 News spoke with the children with their parent’s permission.

Kayden Lehman, 14, and Charles Thompson, 11, say they were frightened when the incidents happened, so much so that Lehman doesn’t want to ride the bus anymore. “Grabbed me right here, and choked me,” said Lehman.

“She like grabbed me, and I think she was about to try and choke me, but then she just grabbed me and pulled me, and then let me go,” said Thompson.

Lehman, who has ADHD and a learning disability, and Thompson, who has ADHD, say the aide did other inappropriate things on the bus as well.

“She always talked about alcohol, weed and stuff,” said Lehman

Lehman took pictures for evidence after the aide choked him and sent them to his mother. Karrie Lehman went straight to the bus company after hearing about the incident.

“When I found out about the incident on the 16th. I contacted Dean, and I spoke with Chris and he was putting all the blame on the children, and wasn’t taking any accountability for it,” said Karrie Lehman.
