Cold weather, soaking rains and brisk winds make even the most seasoned Oregonian seek out warmth in winter. Whether that coziness comes from a warm beverage or the cuddly affection of a fuzzy cat, folks looking to light up their lives, even just for a while, can head to the Eugene Springfield Cat Lounge.
The cat lounge, located at 537 W. Centennial Blvd in Springfield, has a boutique full of cat-themed gifts from local artisans. Artwork, crafts, hats, bags, games and more are available for sale alongside beverages and some café-style seating. Of course, the main attraction of the cat lounge — the cats themselves — are accessible in the separate lounge space. With clean hands, shoes off and some ground rules set, like no tail tugging, visitors can book a 50-minute time slot to enjoy the lounge area and the cats inhabiting it.
Owner Michelle Wyatt opened up the business in January 2024. A retired physician, she was seeking out a passion that she could nurture with her newly found free time.
