On a weekday afternoon, my wife and I were looking for somewhere to eat. I had heard mixed opinions about this next location, so I thought I would check it out for myself. This leads me to my next review for:
Tata’s Pierogi in Elk Grove Village.
I truly love pierogies. I also love Polish restaurants that serve traditional Polish plates. Most of the time when I dine at these establishments, I find great value in the food. The food feels like it’s made with love, and the customer service usually feels welcoming. Unfortunately, everything I just mentioned was absent at Tata’s Pierogi.
The location is off Devon Avenue, tucked away on the left-hand side. It doesn’t look like a restaurant from the outside while driving by—it resembles an industrial business, possibly a tire center or mechanic shop. When you walk into the restaurant, the atmosphere feels very cold. It’s as if you’re walking into the Eastern Bloc during the Cold War. Strange random pictures of children adorn the walls. wood pallets are used for seating.
