Kennedy showed “maximum signs of impairment” at the site of the crash and breathalyzer tests revealed readings of 0.137 and 0.139, according to PCSO. He told deputies he visited the subdivision for a party and he “consumed five shots of alcohol.”
“He also repeatedly told deputies that he was a Florida Department of Corrections Officer at the Hardee Correctional Institution, and that this arrest was going to cost him his job,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a news release.
Kennedy was charged with DUI and DUI with property damage.
“Dylan Kennedy was arrested for driving under the influence with a significantly high blood alcohol level,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said in a statement. “This reckless behavior is unacceptable and puts our community at risk. Not only did he choose to drive intoxicated, but he hit a sign, which could just as easily have been a person.”
