COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Good Tuesday Morning! The Arctic air is here and it’ll stay around through this week. Starting with air temperature readings in the 20s and 30s; however, it feels more like the teens and 20s when you factor in that northwest wind gusting up to 15 mph at times.
Temperatures will remain cold throughout the day with midday readings in the upper 30s and afternoon highs only climbing into the mid 40s. Morning lows will get colder for Wednesday and Thursday with mid to low 20s likely. Highs both of those days should be a tad higher in the upper 40s.
Next big talker is the winter storm posed to impact the south later this week and possibly the weekend. No travel impacts are expected here across Columbus, but if you are traveling to north Alabama and north Georgia you might run into some. Plan ahead.
As of now, we are looking at a possible mix of rain and sleet for the onset of the precipitation Friday morning before turning over to all rain through the day as temperatures warm into the low 40s. There could be a chance for a brief changeover on the backside of the system to get a few flurries if the cold air and moisture line up properly.
