Snow plows working hard to clear roads after intense snowfall

DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — As the snow is piling up on the roads and driveways, snow plowing companies are urging residents to be patient.

The past few days have been very busy and stressful for those clearing our roads, with some crews working overnight on very little sleep to meet the demand.

How do schools decide when to call a ‘snow day’? One superintendent speaks

“I did expect them to be more clear now,” said John Farrell, South Dale neighborhood resident. “And we have only seen the snow plows come through once. I expected it to be more often.”

While residents say the snow looks beautiful, many also say they want it gone.

“The secondary streets obviously take secondary priority,” said Farrell. “Yet the expectation from a taxpayer standpoint is that our roads are taken care of better and more frequently, especially with snow removal.”

One private snow plow company says it’s been tough dealing with the demand following this week’s snow storm.

“Our office staff has been just bombarded with email inquiries, phone calls,” said Sabrina Dunham, co-owner of Dunham Lawncare. “Every time we hang up the phone, someone else is calling. We are definitely doing the best we can.”
