Mold, water damage among concerns at high-rise Buffalo apartment building

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A resident is speaking out after she has tried to resolve issues of mold and water damage with property management at a high-rise apartment building on Buffalo’s West Side, but has had no luck.

Now, she’s calling for action.

The complaint about possible mold exposure and water damage is coming from tenant Natashia Houston at Mariner Towers on Efner Street. She’s concerned about the health and safety of her family and 4-year-old daughter.

Houston said she’s been dealing with the property management at Mariner Towers for the past two years.

“The way it looks now was not the same on how it looked when I first moved in at all, I wasn’t expecting this type of deterioration in my apartment,” she said.

Houston said she has been trying to get managers to fix a water issue coming from her ceiling and what appears to be mold in the corners of her apartment and along a patio door.

When WIVB News 4 took a look at her apartment Tuesday, water was actively dripping from her ceiling.
