LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — A man who police said shot at a person’s vehicle at two separate locations, hitting the victim twice, now faces a charge of attempted murder, documents show.
On Jan. 1 at around 11:30 p.m., officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department were called to the area of Charleston and Valley View boulevards after a report that a person was shot by a person in an SUV while they were driving, according to an arrest report.
The victim told police he was leaving a store in the area in his pickup truck when he saw a light blue SUV “driving aggressively” and the suspect “likely cut [the victim] off.” Near Valley View and El Parque boulevards, the driver of the SUV fired multiple rounds toward the victim’s vehicle, breaking the driver’s side window, the report stated.
Officers found broken glass at the intersection, corroborating the victim’s story.
The victim said he followed the SUV toward Charleston and Valley View to obtain the vehicle’s license plate. The SUV stopped at Fulton Place and North Star Street, where the driver, identified as Joshua Mathews, exited the vehicle, and fired multiple rounds, hitting the pickup four times.
