Southern U.S. – Southern states are preparing for a significant winter storm expected to impact the region Thursday through Friday. The National Weather Service forecasts heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain stretching from the Southern Plains to the Tennessee Valley. Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas could see snow accumulations of up to 7 inches, while areas in Tennessee and Mississippi are expected to receive between 2 to 5 inches. Ice accumulation and freezing rain may exacerbate travel conditions, especially across the Mid-South.
