SPOKANE, Wash. — Police are searching for who is responsible for setting fires on Spokane’s South Hill.
On the night of January 6, firefighters responded to three fires on the South Hill.
Around 8 p.m., two trash cans were set on fire at Trestle Creek Apartments near Regal Street and 53rd Avenue and a dumpster across the street at Regal Village Apartments was also set on fire.
The garbage bin fires at the apartments scorched the nearby garage door.
Monday night’s fires are the latest in a string of similar arson cases that happened in December.
Five fires were set on the South Hill in early December, one of which significantly damaged a garage at the Trestle Creek Apartments.
“It’s got us on edge. We’re highly concerned. This isn’t anything we’re taking lightly,” said SFD’s Justin de Ruyter.
It has not yet been confirmed if all the recent fires are related, but investigators said they were all most likely intentionally set.
SFD said they will talk with the affected apartment complexes to increase safety precautions and keep residents safe.
