LUBBOCK, Texas — Multiple building projects were still in the process of being finished including the Lubbock County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Texas Anti-Gang (TAG) Center and the Lubbock County Expo Center.
In 2018, voters approved a new expo center, and since then, the center’s board has not stopped working on raising the money they needed to break ground on the project. The Lubbock County Expo Center Chairman, Randy Jordan, described how much money they had set aside so far.
“The cost was estimated in the in the $92 million range. For the phase one of that, the County’s portion is going to be roughly in the neighborhood of 42 to 45 and then our parts going to be in the difference of that. Up to date, we’re at about $25 million as far as what we need to make up that difference there. So, we’re still about 20 million dollars short,” Jordan said.
