Decomposed bodies found in JetBlue plane’s wheel well after JFK flight

Authorities investigate stowaways’ fatal journey from Jamaica to New York.

A routine post-flight maintenance check at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida led to a grim discovery. Two men were found dead inside the wheel wells of the JetBlue Airbus A321.

The aircraft had flown from Kingston, Jamaica, to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) before arriving in Florida.

The Grim Discovery

The decomposed bodies were uncovered during a routine post-flight inspection.

JetBlue stated that the identities of the individuals and the circumstances of their access to the aircraft are under investigation.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office is leading the inquiry, with autopsies planned to determine the exact causes of death.

The plane began its day in Kingston, Jamaica, according to the Transportation Security Administration. It then flew to JFK in New York, then to Salt Lake City, Utah, then back to JFK before ending up in Fort Lauderdale.

According to CBS News senior transportation correspondent Kris Van Cleave, the Airbus A320 overnighted in Kingston after arriving from JFK on Jan. 5th.
