Good morning, Delaware food lovers.
It’s good to be back! Delaware Eats took a two-week holiday break, and now we’re (kind of) raring to go with lots of local food news. But isn’t it always a little tough to get the ball rolling again after a few weeks of downtime?
Anyone who spends time in Sussex County sand towns in the winter months should know that several businesses take breaks in January to refresh. (We’re not talking about seasonal restaurants that close after Labor Day and reopen by Memorial Day.) Then, many reopen in February, especially in time for Valentine’s Day and/or Presidents Day Weekend, which brings so many beach visitors, that Delaware Route 1 can look like a July weekend.
Here are a few:
- In Lewes, restaurants that shut down in January for winter break include Heirloom , Agave and Eggcellent. Raas Indian Fusion and Pan Asian restaurant in Lewes is closed in January and reopens Friday, Feb. 7.
- Go Fish! in Rehoboth Beach will be closed until Presidents Day weekend, but its sister fish and chips restaurant Go Brit! on Delaware Route 1 in Lewes remains open.
- Louie’s Pizza in Rehoboth is closed through January, Blue Moon Restaurant in Rehoboth is closed until Tuesday, Feb. 11 and Frank & Louie’s sandwich shop in Rehoboth is closed through Thursday, March 13.
- Nantuckets in Fenwick Island is closed until Tuesday, Feb. 11.
