NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A robber beat a food vendor near Times Square on Tuesday night, knocking out his teeth and fleeing with thousands of dollars in cash, police said.

The vendor was working at West 49th Street and Eighth Avenue around 11:45 p.m. when a man grabbed a plastic cover from a soda bin and bashed the vendor in the face with it, according to police.

The thief then stole $3,500 in cash from the vendor’s pocket and ran away.

The vendor was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was being treated Wednesday.
