After 2 years, dental office marks 10,000 shoe donations

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A dental office in West Michigan is giving back to the community one shoe at a time.

Dr. Rick Neuman and his wife Pat have been involved with mission work for decades, which has sent them across the globe.

“My son had an accident; he was at a Michigan State game. It was one of the promises I made, doing mission work,” said Dr. Rick Neuman, a general dentist with Advance Dental in Grand Rapids.

Their time overseas has allowed them to see the challenges people face each day.

“The more you spread yourself around the world or in the community, it’s easy to find out there’s so many people worldwide that are in need,” Pat Neuman said.

The Neumans have sent resources to nearly 25 countries. Over the past two years, they’ve also made an impact at home by hosting shoe drives for children at Advance Dental in Grand Rapids .

“Children, their feet are growing constantly, so many parents can’t afford to keep up with that,” Pat Neuman said.
