Harrisburg-area ‘Sober Ride Home’ program paused indefinitely

(WHTM) — Uber and ComutePA’s ‘ Sober Ride Home ‘ pilot program, which offered $40 Uber vouchers to residents in need of a safe ride home, has been paused indefinitely due to overwhelming demand.

According to the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission (TCRPC), the program had a limited amount of funding available due to the “surprising” number of customers who have used the service since December 23, 2024. The program launched in July with a grant from the Federal Highway Administration and the Safe Street and Roads for All program.
