An irate Rhode Island mother is claiming that a bus monitor abroad her child’s school bus attempted to drop off the wrong child on the way home from school. It was reported by Sarah Batista on Monday that she was waiting for her autistic son to come home from school when she got a call from the Durham Bus Company.
“They stated that they were at my door with my son and that nobody was answering,” Batista told CBS affiliate WPRI . “I ran downstairs and nobody was there.”
According to Batista, she realized that the bus was at the wrong address and after guiding the driver to the right location, she was further floored when they attempted to give her the wrong child. “Out of shock, I said, ‘That’s not mine,’” she recalled.
“Then the bus monitor … got another backpack, but the same child, and brought him back to me. So again, I said, ‘That’s not my child.’” According to the now-frantic mother, her son eventually was found and brought off the bus, however, Bartisia knew immediately that something was not right.
