SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — A new housing development in Salt Lake City has opened its doors offering 110 affordable studio and one-bedroom apartments just blocks away from downtown Salt Lake City.
Located at 144 South and 500 East, the 144 South Apartments are available for residents earning at or below 60% of the area median income. Salt Lake City officials said the new building is another milestone in the city’s goals for affordable living.

“Affordable housing is a cornerstone of a thriving city and projects like 144 South are one way we are actively addressing the housing challenges our residents face,” said Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall. “My administration is committed to creating a city where all Salt Lakers, regardless of income, have access to the resources they need to lead stable and fulfilling lives.”
The apartment offers several amenities such as a business center, fitness facility, clubhouse, bike storage, and even a dog wash and outdoor deck. It is also located just a few blocks away from a red-line TRAX station, connecting the apartments to the greater Salt Lake area.
