City of Akron will receive $10 million from federal government for work on Innerbelt

The city of Akron will receive a $10 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for work on the decommissioned one-mile section of the Akron Innerbelt and in the surrounding corridor, U.S. Rep. Emilia Sykes, D-Akron, announced Wednesday.

The funding was announced during a community workshop event that the city hosted with project partners on the future of the Innerbelt at the newly renovated Ed Davis Community Center. Those partners are lead planning firm Sasaki, engineering consultant WSP, ThirdSpace Action Lab, Ideas and Action, City Architecture and Vista Site Selection.
