FOX40 was there today as the sheriffs were training their explosive detection dogs. When they are being trained it helps to keep their skills sharp.

According to the Sacramento Sheriffs, the K9 team is required to train for 16 hours a month to maintain the skills that they have grasped.

The program already has six trained explosive detection dogs that are part of a team, the Sacramento Sheriff said.

The department told FOX40.com that in just a few months they will be able to expand their team by training four more bomb-sniffing dogs.
