Remson allegedly stole the cruiser, which was parked outside Rhode Island Hospital, early Saturday morning, according to police.
The officer was inside the hospital when the theft occurred, police said. It’s unclear whether the cruiser was unlocked or left running when Remson got into the driver’s seat, but police confirmed he was not being detained at the time.
“The circumstances surrounding this incident are being thoroughly reviewed, and the nature of the disciplinary action is still being determined,” the Providence Police Department said in a statement to 12 News.
