Suspects accused of using homeless people to cash checks stolen from mailboxes

Calcasieu Parish — The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a ring accused of stealing checks from mailboxes, altering the information, and using homeless men and women to cash them.

Anthony B. Hardy, 38, and Lequita Q. Johnson, 36, both of Decatur, Georgia, are behind bars in Calcasieu Parish on charges of forgery, bank fraud, and theft. Their bonds are $105,000 each.
