Freeman Family: A Notre Dame Love Story

Marcus Freeman, head coach of Notre Dame football, has found constant support in his wife, Joanna. They met during Freeman’s playing days at Ohio State University and later married in 2010.

Over the years, they have welcomed six children together: Vinny, Siena, Gino, Nico, Capri, and Rocco. Their oldest son, Vinny, is a talented football player and wrestler.

Joanna has been a devoted partner throughout Freeman’s coaching career, from his time as a graduate assistant at Ohio State to his current role at Notre Dame. She was also a news reporter in Columbus before starting a family.

In 2021, Marcus became the 30th head coach in Notre Dame history. His family was by his side as he signed the contract.

In 2023, Freeman celebrated Mother’s Day with a heartfelt tribute to his wife and mother, expressing his gratitude for their love and support.

Most recently, the Freeman family celebrated Marcus’s victory over Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, which secured Notre Dame a spot in the College Football Playoff semifinals.
