Ohio trooper reflects on sacrifices and challenges of law enforcement

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — Jan. 9 marks Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, and for Sergeant Scott Moore of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, wearing the uniform is a lifelong dream come true.

Moore said he always aspired to be a trooper since childhood, emphasizing that it is a career one must truly desire.

“You’re not going to get rich,” Moore said. “You’re going to work the weekends, the holidays, you’re going to miss Christmas, you’re going to miss birthdays, school plays, you name it, I’ve missed it. There’s a lot of sacrifice that goes with it.”…
