SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Millions of people from Texas to Georgia are under a winter weather storm warning as yet another major winter storm moves through the deep south toward the mid-Atlantic states over the next couple of days. It is bringing freezing rain and snow as far south as Dallas, TX tonight and then it spreads toward Atlanta on Friday. Atlanta could see as much as 3 inches of snow and before the snow they could see freezing rain creating treacherous driving conditions on Friday through Saturday morning.
If you have a flight scheduled on Friday or even Saturday you should call your airline well ahead of departure to see if you flight has been cancelled or delayed. This same storm system will sweep another cold front our way early Saturday morning bringing a chance for a few showers on Saturday morning. We will see the winds pick up on Saturday which will likely cause boating advisories.
Friday look for a chilly start once again with lows well below average as winds will be out of the NE to start the day, but those winds will turn to the east then southeast quickly by late Friday morning. This will begin a rapid warm-up for the afternoon. Highs will finally get back to the 70s for most areas on Friday afternoon. We will see a much milder evening on Friday so if you have plans for Friday night it will much warmer with temperatures in the mid 60′s at 9 p.m.
The cold front will move through early Saturday morning bringing a shift in winds once again out of the NW. Those winds will pick up during the morning on Saturday at 15-20 mph. We will see our high temperature on Saturday occur during the morning and then the temperatures will cool during the afternoon as those NW winds blow.
Sunday skies will clear and it will be cooler with highs in the mid to upper 60s on Sunday. If you are going to the Bucs playoff game Sunday night you will need a jacket as the kick-off temperature will be in the upper 50s. Winds should be fairly light out of the north at 5-10 mph…
