Denver Sheriff Department sergeant fired for ‘deception’ after video shows her flashing department ID during traffic stop

DENVER — After nearly nine years with the Denver Sheriff Department, Bridget Andrews is no longer with the agency after the city deemed she was “deceptive” when questioned about pulling out her badge holder and department ID during a traffic stop, according to city records.

The traffic stop for speeding at 90 miles per hour on Interstate 25 in Denver occurred in April of 2024. After an internal affairs investigation, discipline documents show the city terminated Andrews this past December.

Body camera footage from the stop shows a Denver Police Department officer walking up to the passenger window. Before any words are exchanged, Andrews can be seen displaying her badge holder with her department ID on display in her left hand.
