LA fire heroes risk their lives to save horses trapped by flames and vow ‘we won’t let them burn’

Residents of the besieged Altadena neighborhood have started risking their lives in order to save several horses from the raging California wildfires that have already destroyed several thousands of acres of property. The shocking footage was first broadcast on local Fox affiliate KTTV.

In the clip, the entire hillside and both sides of the street can be seen being consumed by flames while residents walk the horses away from a barn near the Eaton fire. Gina Silva, the reporter covering the story, can be seen wearing goggles and an N-95 mask while dodging embers being swirled around by the Santa Ana winds.

While Silva speaks, two firetrucks rush past her in an attempt to help try and contain the raging inferno . It is then the reporter notices two people and several horses coming up the street from behind flying sparks. The reporter then rushes over to the pair to ask how many animals are left.

“We have a couple we just let loose over there,” says one of the rescuers, who has his sweatshirt up over his nose and mouth. “We’re trying to get as many as we can out.” The second person added that they were “not going to let them burn.”…
