Lakeland man reached for gun after slamming stolen car into 2 vehicles during chase: FHP

LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) — A Lakeland man injured multiple people when he crashed into two vehicles while fleeing Florida Highway Patrol troopers on Thursday.

FHP said Jaaziel Calero Nuez, 22, was behind the wheel of a stolen Camaro that previously fled from Auburndale police officers before it was spotted on Memorial Blvd. at 2:49 p.m.

A trooper tried to pull over the Camaro, but it sped away, according to a FHP arrest report. Two other troopers then joined the pursuit, which came to an end after the Camaro ran a red light and struck a sedan and an SUV.

The SUV’s driver and passenger suffered significant injuries and crews had to cut them out of the vehicle. They were taken to the hospital…
