Early morning fire destroys Mentone Moose Lodge

MENTONE, California — A fire broke out early Wednesday morning, destroying the Mentone Moose Lodge and threatening nearby homes due to gusty Santa Ana winds. The blaze was reported at 5:45 a.m. in the 2100 block of Mentone Boulevard.San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the scene, finding the medium-sized commercial building fully involved in flames. Firefighters launched an aggressive interior attack, but the high winds forced a transition to a defensive strategy. The fire was brought under control 90 minutes after arrival, preventing the ignition of nearby residences, according to a press release from the department.No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
