Police investigate deaths of 2 attending ‘Fantasy Fest’ in Shakopee

SHAKOPEE, Minn. — Shakopee police are investigating after two people were found dead in a hotel room on New Year’s Day while attending a swingers club event.

Search warrant applications say officers were sent to the Baymont by Wyndham Hotel at 1244 Canterbury Road in Shakopee shortly before 8:15 p.m. on Jan. 1 for a welfare check. Hotel staffers told police that family members were concerned about 47-year-old Josh Peter Quale, whose truck was in the parking lot. Family was concerned as they hadn’t heard from Quale, who had rented a room at the hotel but was supposed to check out on Dec. 29.

Court documents say Shakopee officers used an electronic key to enter the room and discovered the bodies of Quale and 54-year-old Shantelle Denise Bresson. Both bodies were in a state of decomposition when found. While securing the scene, officers found illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia near the bodies.
