VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Weather can change in a matter of minutes, and that’s what had Virginia Beach crews busy Thursday and Friday as a winter storm was heading to the Hampton Roads region.
There are four locations in the city where trucks will be able to get salt. The dome holds more than 1,600 tons of salt that will be going on the roads.
“We started earlier this week,” said Phillip Koetter, Operations Manager with Virginia Beach Public Works. Our staff that are going to be manning the trucks tonight starting on the inclement weather. Teams started at 6 p.m. [Friday], and we’ll run a full implementation until 6 a.m. … and then we’ll evaluate the conditions at that point.”…
