Ole Miss adds veteran Jordon Simmons to running back room

Ole Miss landed Akron running back Jordon Simmons Friday following an official visit .

The former Michigan State and Zips prospect accumulated 520 rushing yards on 137 carries and 63 receiving yards and another touchdown on 12 receptions in East Lansing. After transferring to Akron this season, the 5-foot-11, 200 pound prospect ran for 664 yards and two touchdowns.

He played high school football at McEachern (GA), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 563 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Ole Miss wanted to add a physical presence to its running back room. Jordon Simmons brings this.

Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Oregon, South Carolina, Nebraska, Florida State, Kentucky, West Virginia, Arkansas, Colorado, Maryland, Pitt, Louisville and Boston College, among others, offered Simmons. He ran for 1,093 yards on 154 carries (7.1 avg.) and 16 touchdowns to help lead McEachern (Ga.) to the Region 3-7A title and a 12-1 record as a senior in 2019…
