Rockford area woman heads to California to assist victims of wildfires

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A local Red Cross volunteer is heading to Los Angeles to help those in need amid wildfires that have ravaged the county.

She is helping the Red Cross provide thousands of people who need food, water and a place to sleep.

“We’re at the beginning of the disaster where first responders are still doing response and rescue,” said Red Cross Volunteer and Supervisor Vicky Brown. “At the beginning of disasters, lots of times there’s some chaos. We’re trying to organize that.”…
