January joy: Wild Lights weekend extends expiration on holiday cheer

For one last holiday hurrah, there’s Wild Lights Weekend at W.W. Knight Nature Preserve in Perrysburg, a Christmas lights and display contest that will delight the whole family.

Running through Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m., Wild Lights features 10 juried illuminated holiday displays in the shape of various animals sponsored by various local groups including Nature’s Nursery, Penta Career Center, and Girl Scouts of America.

“It’s a whole weekend where parkgoers can stroll through the nature preserve and view the lights,” said Jessie Walton, community and communications specialist for Wood County Park District. “They come and see these life-sized animal statues that we have and each of them are sponsored and themed by different groups that sign up and decorate the animals. People are very creative with how they make the displays and it’s just a fun way to come out and look at the lights after the holidays and enjoy the park as well. Afterwards, they can walk to the Nature Center and enjoy the hot cocoa, the warm fireplace, and cookies that are sponsored by the Friends of the Park.”…
