Suspect Arrested: Man Charged with Robbing Two Banks in Roanoke

A Roanoke man, 67-year-old Michael Anthony McCoy, has been charged with the robbery of two banks within a three-day span. McCoy made his first appearance in federal court this week, facing charges of conspiracy, brandishing a firearm, and two counts of bank robbery.

Prosecutors allege that on October 26, 2022, McCoy directed a woman, Dawn Davis, to write a note demanding money from a bank teller. The note read, “Do as I say and no one will die.”

McCoy then entered the Truist bank branch, handed the note to the teller, brandished a gun, and fled with $6,485. Two days later, he allegedly committed another robbery at a different Truist branch, stealing nearly $6,000…
