Nearly a year after three people died when an under-construction hangar collapsed near the Boise Airport, construction is underway again.
On January 31st last year, just a few days after crews started erecting steel on a new Jackson Jet Center hangar at 4049 W. Wright St., the structure collapsed. Three people died, and nine suffered injuries.
Twenty-four-year-old Mariano Coc Och of Nampa, 32-year-old Mario Sontay Tzi of Nampa, and 59-year-old Craig Durrant died when a series of seven steel girders that made up the structure buckled and collapsed.
The Occupational Health and Safety Administration said Big D showed a “blatant disregard for federal safety regulations” and said it used “irresponsible construction methods” that left the structure vulnerable to collapse.
