Major Applewhite has filled two more vacancies on his coaching staff with the hiring of Jason Washington as co-defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach and Jayden Everett as running backs coach. Washington replaces Jay Hopson, who recently stepped down after two seasons on the staff, and Everett replaces Effrem Reed, who joined former offensive coordinator Rob Ezell on the Wake Forest staff.
Washington arrives in Mobile from the Mississippi State staff where he was director of player development for head coach Jeff Lebby. He arrived at Mississippi State in 2020, coaching safeties in 2020-21 and running backs in 2022. He was the recruiting coordinator and cornerbacks coach at Texas from 2017-19 and on he was on the Houston coaching staff 2015-16 as cornerbacks…..
