Free radon testing kits offered by Monroe County Health Department

MONROE — Even among trained professionals, the second-leading cause of lung cancer in the United States is one that many aren’t aware of, a Michigan professor said.

Prolonged exposure to radon, a tasteless, odorless, and colorless radioactive gas is a close second to causing lung cancer behind smoking, said Rick Neitzel, a professor in the school of public health at the University of Michigan.
